Audrey Morrey
Keyboard/Vocals
How it Started
One night after my husband’s jam session, Matt (lead vocals/rhythm guitar) said to me, “Audrey, we really need your vocals and piano skills to fill out our sound…..you should come with me to our next practice.” I was hooked!!!
I’ve been playing the piano since I was a little girl. Like many kids, I HATED practicing. However, I stuck with it and discovered that when I did practice, I was actually pretty good and really enjoyed it. But… what I really loved was singing. Eventually that led me to a degree in voice and choral education. My teaching career quickly turned into ministering at our church as a pianist/vocalist while Matt went through medical school and residency and as we started our family.
How it really started
Adapting
DNR is giving me the opportunity to develop an area of music where I do not excel, yet. It is a long way from my classic music training in piano and fine art song, but the band has encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and learn things like chording and even improvising. It is definitely a work in progress….again with the PRACTICING!
I Gig It
When we are not busy with our families and jobs, we all just want to get together and make music. The only problem with that is we can never make the time… UNLESS we have a scheduled gig to play! Playing gigs TRULY feeds our creative spirits.
What does DNR mean to me?
Scott (drums), Rick (lead guitar/vocals), and Mike (bass guitar) have become great friends of ours, and Matt and I get to share a hobby we love. It’s good to know DNR will be there for us after the kids are gone and we can rock on into the next phase of our life!
